Menlough broadband problems must be addressed

Ongoing problems with the quality of broadband service in the Menlough area must be addressed, according to local TD Paul Connaughton, who is seeking an upgrade of the service in the locality.

‘In recent months I have been contacted by a number of residents and business owners in Menlough who are hugely frustrated by the poor quality of fixed line broadband available in the area. It means that for these families and businesses doing business over the internet is impossible, whether that be something as simple as sending an email or paying bills online or skyping or facetiming friends and relatives abroad.

‘I understand that an eircom broadband engineer visited the area in recent weeks and locals have been informed that the slow speeds are due to congestion on the line, which could be rectified by upgrading the line. I have contacted eircom about the matter as work to remedy the problem needs to be carried out as a matter of urgency.

‘A large number of households in the Menlough area are affected by this problem and it is clear that the service currently available is sub-standard and the necessary work to upgrade the line must be given priority.’
