Greenway consultation begins

News that the consultation process on the Dublin to Galway Greenway will begin next week has been welcomed by Galway East TD Paul Connaughton.
‘The consultation process begins next week and will continue until September. It will involve staff from county councils in Galway, Roscommon and Westmeath as well as NRA staff who are based in Galway. It has been decided that priority will be given to landowners on approaches to towns and villages, landowners who have already declared strong objections and landowners outside the preferred route corridor who may be able to offer a local alternative.
‘The Department expects that over one thousand landowners will be involved in the process, with 700 of those in County Galway and a further 100 in Galway City. These landowners will be contacted and appointments made to meet with them. It is hoped that a report will be prepared for Ministers Paschal Donohue and Michael Ring by mid-September.
‘Consultation with local landowners is an important element of the planning for this project and I would encourage landowners throughout county Galway whose land is affected by the Greenway to take part in the consultation process.’
