Resolution needed on Greenway issue

Concerns among landowners in south Galway along the route of the proposed Greenway must be allayed in coming weeks, according to local TD Paul Connaughton, who said that resolution on the matter is needed as soon as possible.
‘On Tuesday 19th May, Minister Pascal Donohoe met with local representatives, the NRA, Galway County Council and the IFA. That meeting was arranged so that the Minister could hear from land owners and those with an interest in the development of a greenway route in Galway. The views expressed at that meeting are currently being considered by the Minister and consultation will now take place with both the NRA and Galway County Council to ensure that the Galway Greenway project and other such projects are only progressed with the support of local people.
‘In the three weeks since that meeting I have met many people who remain concerned about the Greenway issue and I am hopeful that Minister Donohue can come up with a plan because land owners along the route of the proposed Greenway need a resolution as soon as possible. I will continue to raise this matter with Minister Donohue and press for a timely resolution to outstanding issues.’
