Additional occupational therapists needed

The lack of occupational therapy services for early intervention in county Galway was highlighted this week by local TD Paul Connaughton.
The East Galway TD has raised the issue with Health Minister Leo Varadkar, seeking the appointment of additional occupational therapists to serve families in county Galway. ‘At the moment 435 children receive occupational therapy with Galway Springtime Early Intervention Service, but with five posts currently unfilled, many children are losing out in terms of the service they are receiving.
‘I have been contacted by many parents who are anxious that their children are losing out because posts in Galway remain unfilled. I have highlighted this issue with Minister Varadkar and believe that this should be addressed as a matter of urgency. Each month that goes by for these children is a month lost in terms of addressing urgent needs.’
