Stay on decision on Tynagh Health Centre

East Galway TD Paul Connaughton has welcomed the fact that a stay is to be put on the HSE decision in respect of the future of Tynagh Health Centre until a further meeting on the matter in September.
Earlier today, Deputy Connaughton and other local public representatives and a delegation from the local community met with HSE management to discuss the future of the local health centre in Tynagh. At the meeting it was decided to put a stay on the HSE decision to close the health centre until September as a number of issues still have to be worked through.
‘At the meeting, the anger and frustration of the local community was fully communicated to HSE management, both by the public representatives and the delegation from the local community. People questioned how the decision to close Tynagh Health Centre was arrived at and criticised the lack of consultation with local people and in particular the lack of cognisance taken of the opinions of local elderly people.
