Connaughton welcomes Garda recruitment

East Galway T.D. Paul Connaughton has welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Justice that Garda recruitment is to recommence.
‘The announcement of a new recruitment drive for An Garda Síochána is most welcome. Advertisements for the posts were carried in today’s newspapers and by next July recruits will be in training in the Garda College in Templemore.
‘I believe that this announcement will be of interest to a great many young people all across East Galway and will also be of interest to young Irish people living overseas. Changes in Irish life will be reflected in the new training course, which is very welcome and I believe that this updated training will be of great value to the new recruits.
‘At least two intakes of students will take place in 2014 and Minister Shatter has intimated that there may be a third, which could see up to 300 posts being offered.’
