Connaughton welcomes plans to develop Tuam Primary Care centre

The inclusion of Tuam Primary Care Centre in a list of 16 centres to be developed by the HSE was welcomed this week by East Galway TD Paul Connaughton.

‘The inclusion of the new Primary Care Centre in Tuam is an important development for the provision of health care in a community setting in County Galway. The new centre is to be developed on the grounds of the former Grove Hospital and will be an important centre of access for patients in north Galway.

‘The Primary Care Team which will be located at the new centre will include GPs and practice nurses as well as public health nurses, physiotherapist and occupational therapist and will be supported by a clinical psychologist, speech and language therapists, the early intervention team, dental staff, community mental health nurses, social workers, dieticians and other staff.

‘The new centre in Tuam will see health service providers across a spectrum of community services working together to improve the delivery of services and making it easier for people to access community health services.’
