Connaughton backs calls for reduced price replay tickets

Calls for reduced prices for tickets for the All Ireland replay were backed this morning by East Galway Deputy Paul Connaughton.

‘Sunday was a wonderful occasion for all followers of Galway hurling and for those fortunate enough to be in attendance at Croke Park, it was an occasion that will live on in the memory for ever. With the replay scheduled for three weeks’ time, it is imperative that everything possible is done to ensure that tickets are available for the replay at reduced prices.

‘It is especially important that concession prices are available for families and that as many young Galway hurling fans as possible get to witness the wonderful spectacle of an All-Ireland. Many families are swamped with costs, especially in the month of September and a goodwill gesture towards families in the current harsh economic climate would be much appreciated.

‘I appreciate that Croke Park is a wonderful stadium, repayments on which are still being made, but the GAA must recognise that without the hard work that goes into the association by volunteers across the country, events such as Sunday’s magnificent All-Ireland would not be possible.’
