Connaughton welcomes approval for sewerage scheme contracts in Claregalway and Milltown

€2.65 million is to be provided for the network contract of Claregalway and Milltown Sewerage Schemes, a fact welcomed today by Paul Connaughton T.D., who also welcomed news that five additional houses are to be added to the collection network in Milltown.

‘This news is hugely welcome and it is anticipated that work will commence on this contract as soon as possible. I understand that Minister Phil Hogan will provide the necessary capital funding for the network contracts for Claregalway and Milltown Sewerage Schemes as well as the connection of five additional houses in Milltown.

‘I particularly welcome the inclusion of the additional houses in Milltown as I had impressed upon the Minister the need for this inclusion for many months and had also raised the issue with a number of officials in Galway County Council over the course of many months. I know that the extension to include these houses will be of great advantage to the householders involved.

‘The new infrastructure will ensure that environmental and water quality standards are maintained and will also provide capacity to support economic growth in towns such as Claregalway.

‘I know that the Minister is committed to continued investment in wastewater schemes and the completion of the contracts in Claregalway and Milltown will allow greater focus to be put on the many towns and villages throughout the county that urgently require work.’
